Construction and design

The YoyoFactory Edge is a bimetal yoyo made out of 6061 aluminium alloy and stainless steel rims with laser engraving on them. It looks really different, really unique as this yoyo is somewhat wider than most of the yoyo. For example, the Edge has a width of almost 47 mm which is 2 mm wider than the YoyoFactory Shutter.

The V-shaped yoyo has a smooth finish which makes the toy ideal for finger grinds and finger spin. The palm grinds are also accessible due to that fact that the stainless steel rims don’t cover the edge of the yoyo entirely and leave some blasted surface to grind on the hand.

Its engraving shows the name of the yoyo onto the rims, something never attempted before(most yoyos have laser engravings onto the finger spin cups. This unique feature gives the yoyo a premium feel(what else can you say about an 80 dollar yoyo?).

Playability and feel

It may feel strange the first time you play with the YoyoFactory Edge, but that is because of the neutral weight distribution of the yoyo.

The original version of the Edge might play a bit floaty(feels light and flows very quickly of very easily across the strings) and that may be into your advantage if you want to move fast enough to impress your audience in a competition or a family/friends gathering.

Evan Nagao designed the yoyo along with the YoyoFactory team in such a way that it can do any sort of trick you throw at it.

This was especially important for Evan, as his style cannot be placed in a certain category. He can do tech combos, flashy tricks, fingerspins like hell and so on outstandingly well so he needed something versatile to meet his needs.

The wide shape makes the yoyo easier to catch, this toy is suitable for those who have problems with accuracy. When it comes back to your hand, you will feel the accommodating shape of the Edge, so your overall experience with the yoyo improves significantly.

As I said, finger grinds, thumb grinds, finger spins work just as fine as for the YoyoFactory Shutter, maybe even better. The stability just rocks, the same is for the YYF  Wedge, Edge Beyond and Edge Monster(the rest of the Evan Nagao series). You just can’t be wrong with this yoyo.

Conclusion

The YoyoFactory Edge is worth paying around 80 for the amazing features that make it so amazing for competition-driven yoyo play.No wonder that many people have heard about this yoyo a long time ago, including maybe even you.
