The iYoYoo Ippon is the second-best hybrid yoyo after the iYoYo ICEBERG, as it has one of the best quality-price rations. For what you pay, you get this amazing yoyo made of polycarbonate which incorporates steel rims.
The steel rims are one of the kind, if you get this yoyo you will see what I mean. They look extremely cool making you want this yoyo more. The hybrid design with metal rims makes the yoyo a lot more powerful, even though not like the ICEBERG.
This yoyo is unique based on the manufacturing process which involves machining a polycarbonate block rather by injection-moulding the shape of the yoyo(see here the difference). As a result, you get a more durable yoyo and a smoother surface for finger grinds.

Construction and design
The iPPon has a classic V-shape, different from the iYoYo Iceberg H-shape.This further improves the catchability of the yoyo which is great.
Depending on your yoyo colour scheme you may be lucky to get the white yoyo shown in the above image. This is one of the best-looking yoyos, as it presents those iridescent rings in all fancy colours, giving the yoyo an extravagant finish.
The polycarbonate body has a translucent look which is both weird and cool at the same time. You can barely see through the plastic body which is ideal for knowing on what string to land your yoyo(for not creating confusion).
The side cup presents a laser engraved flower shape which is black and a bit rough. In the middle of the side cup, you have the aluminium fingerspin hub and the iPPon logo printed near the dimple. This silver fingerspin hub is just awesome for fingerspins that seem to last forever.
As for the bearing system, you can see that the yoyo has a curved bearing(rather call it concave) or you may get a centre trac bearing which does its job of keeping the yoyo centred extremely well.
The response system is good and you can make the yoyo return to your hand by doing the bind with no problems.
Playability and feel
The iridescent steel rings improve the spin time of the yoyo and also look cool. However, these shiny steel rings may prevent you from performing palm grinds as long as you may want(still, they are doable).
This yoyo is stable, smooth, fingerspins like crazy and has that V-shape that feels more comfortable onto your hand than the iYoYo ICEBERG.
If you watch it how it plays, you would say that it spins like a high-end 100-150 dollar yoyo, but in this case, this yoyo is half this price.
You can also make the yoyo faster than it normally plays and does tech tricks, whips and slacks. You can hit horizontal tricks first strike with this yoyo if you are experienced with this type of tricks.
The thumb grinds can’t be done too easily because the inner shape isn’t suited for this kind of tricks. You may need to throw the yoyo at an angle to do this.
Conclusion
The iPPON yoyo is a great all-around yoyo which is not too fast, not too heavy due to weight and has an average weight and a fantastic feel. You won’t regret any dollar spent on this extraordinary hybrid throw!
